Transport department to take sold measures for reducing transport fares:CM Punjab

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, while immediately acting upon the letter written by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to the provincial chief ministers, has directed administration and concerned departments to take effective measures to bring down transport fares and prices of essential items. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government is determined to provide maximum relief to the masses and it would be ensured that benefits of stability in the value of rupee and reduction in petroleum prices should reach the common man.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab government is already implementing a comprehensive programme for raising the living standard of the people and sincere efforts are being made for the welfare of low-income people. He directed concerned departments and administrations to harmonize transport fares and prices of essential articles with the recent decrease in petroleum prices so as to provide relief to the masses.

He directed that price control committees set up at Tehsil, town and district levels be fully mobilized while teams of special magistrates should be constituted for ensuring sale of daily use items at the fixed rate. Shahbaz Sharif said that the interest of people would be fully protected and no one would be allowed to exploit the citizens. He said that law would immediately come into action against the elements involved in profiteering.

The Chief Minister directed concerned departments to take solid measures for reducing transport fares and prices of essential items and submit him a reports. He said that provision of quality daily use items to the masses would be ensured and the role of elected representatives as well as administration is of vital importance for this purpose. He said that people have high expectations from PML-N government and it will be fulfilled at any cost. He said that the elements involved in overcharging deserve no leniency and immediate action should be taken against them.

He said that economic situation is improving due to solid measures taken by PML-N government. He said that every step of the government is directed towards betterment of the people. He said that those showing good performance in the entire process of price control mechanism would be encouraged.
