He stated this during a high level meeting held regarding holding of South Asia Labour Conference from 24 to 26 April.
The Minister informed that besides more than hundred ministers of foreign countries, technical and legal experts, provincial ministers of all the four provinces and federal ministers will also participate in the conference. He said that experts will present their recommendations in the conference in the light of which new laws would be enforced for the welfare of labourers, workers and employees of the country.
The Minister reviewed the arrangements for the conference and directed the officers to play their due role for the success of the conference. Later, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar presided over a meeting in connection with financial betterment and incentives to the labourers which decided to change or make necessary amendments in different sections of Labour Act. He said that approval will be sought from assembly after necessary amendments in 40 clauses of Punjab Employees Act.
The Minister said that Punjab Chief Minister is serious to ameliorate the condition of employees and workers for which decision has been taken to make changes in labour laws. He said that important changes are being made in labour laws in the light of recommendations of committee constituted by Punjab Chief Minister and Justice Saif ur Rehman Commission’s report.
The Minister constituted a committee comprising seven officers which will submit its proposals within fortnight. Secretary Labour Capt. Retd Muhammad Yousaf, MPAs Saira Iftikhar, Hina Pervaiz Butt, DG Labour Hasnaat Javed, Commissioner Farhan Aziz Khawaja and other senior officers attended the meeting.
