Imran khan demands national water policy from the govt

Lahore: A seminar was conducted by the PTI water committee on the occasion of the international water day addressing this seminar the PTI leaders spoke on the need for an integrated water policy which takes into account the water crises prevailing in Pakistan.

Chairman Imran Khan on this day for the seminar spoke to media through the video link and said that the next war in the world are going to be fought on the water not on the oil. He said that the govt. has been negligent about the water shortage and water quality which is causing deaths in children all over Pakistan. He said that PTI demands that the govt. should make a water policy that addresses there crises in water scarcity and water conservation.

Two water experts Dr.M.S.Shafiq Water Expert Speaking on the occasion said that Pakistan was blessed with water but was cursed with lack of governance in water management. He said that each of the govt. has shown no will to build dams and reservoirs on the right time with the result that Pakistan has become from being water stressed to water scarce country.He said that beside kalabagh there were many dams that could be building which were non controversial especially in the Potohar region that could solve the water scarcity problem in Pakistan.

Dr Islam ul Haq Water Expert Mentioned that the water contamination in Pakistan is causing premature growth in children and higher infer mortality rate. One of the major reason that water table has become really deep and water mining had made the water table drop from 100 feet to 1000 feet creating arsenic poisoning in the water. He said that 98% of the water from the industries is untreated which again causes undrinkable water for almost 70% of the population. He suggested that better crop rotations and farmer education should be done for agriculture planning where water could be used for the best crop productivity.

PTI Sec Information Andleeb Abbas said that the PTI will be running a house hold water conservation awareness plan where 1000 of gallons of waters which are waste in every house by not checking leak aging in taps, washing cars in the house with pipes, and watering laws with drinkable water has result massive wastage of water. She said that by running these awareness campaigns each household can save 1000000 gallons of water per year thus contributing to the overall water conservation of the country.

PTI MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal said that PTI will be raising voice against  water issues in the assembly and will be forcing the govt. to include water awareness in the education text books for the awareness in the children. He said that PTI will be forcing the govt. to focus on water quality specially in the big cities where Rawalpindi, Lahore and Islamabad had the worst quality of water in the country.  He said that in the assembly opposition will raise the issue of water in the Punjab so that far areas such like southern Punjab also get quality drinking water.

PTI Gen.Sec Dr yasmin Rashid said that 25000 and 30000 children die due to water born diseases like Dyria, Hepatitis, Polio etc. She said that water was the basic human right and it was shameful for the govt. that in Pakistan very soon water shedding will start just like load-shedding if any action will not be taken to prevent that from happening. She said that PTI will be running campaign s at all level to ensure that every Pakistani to have basic human rights of cleans and safe drink water.

Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed Opposition Leader PTI said that the govt. was busy wasting million of rupees in youth festival in making records of number of people who are hitting their heads against walnuts and other such records while Pakistan was breaking all records of poor and higher number of children dying from contaminated water. He said that PTI will carry out a movement against water crises in the assembly and will also come on the streets to prevent this issue from becoming a disaster.

PTI Punjab President Ejaz ch said that all civilizations in the history developed and grown where water is found and Pakistan being Indus civilization has seen the Indus River dry due to negligence of govt. at every level. He said that when water dries people die and that is what is happening in Thar and Chohlistan and thus it is opportunity of the PTI to raise voice for the water and ensure that the govt. and the society will deal with this water crisis on priority basis He said PTI will come out on the streets if the govt. do not take any steps to solve this rising water crises.
