Lahore High Court Complaint Cell has disposed off its notice “a man threw acid at his wife with the help of his mother” as police report against the accused has been submitted in the Anti-Terrorism Court, Bahawalpur.
According to details, victim had contracted marriage with Mohan, a resident of Iqbalabad, Rahim Yar Khan four years ago. Mohan often man-handled his wife and one day he beat his wife up severely over a minor issue. He then called his mother and told her to tie down his wife. Later, he returned with acid, which he threw at his wife. Face and breast of the victim were the most affected. Mohan and his mother then kept the victim locked in a room crying with pain. Some neighbours informed Ajmal, brother of the victim, about the incident who rushed there and found his sister locked in a room. He took her to Shaikh Zayed Hospital, where doctors said her condition was critical.
On a press report LHC Complaint Cell took cognizance of the issue and directed District & Sessions Judge Rahim Yar Khan to probe into the incident and submit a detailed report as to the steps taken by the police along with his own comments so as to reach Lahore High Court within a week. The said Sessions Judge reported that Iqbalabad police had registered a case against the accused and arrested them. After investigation they were found guilty and police report u/s 173 Cr.P.C. against them had also been submitted in the Court of Law but accused acquitted of the charges due to compounding of offence by both parties.
