Lahore and Faisalabad won Inter-Division Women Karate jointlyLahore: The thrilling Inter-Division General Public and Education Sector Badminton, Kabaddi, Cricket, Boxing and Karate Competitions of Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) came to an end.

Lahore Division Women Won the Inter-Division Cricket Title at the Kinnaird College ground. They defeated Gujranwala by 65 runs in the title encounter. Lahore Division team accumulated 94 runs in the stipulated overs pics (5)pics (5)apics (2)1pics (2)3pics (2)2without any loss while playing first. Faryal and Alia struck 54 and 32 runs respectively. In reply, Gujranwala girls could manage only 29 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Iram Javed grabbed three and Faryal took two wickets for the winning side.

The General Public Badminton Trophy went to Gujranwala, who defeated Rawalpindi by the margin of 2-1 sets while the Punjab University emerged victorious in education sector badminton contest. The Punjab University Students thrashed Sargodha University by 2-0 in the title clash. Ammar, who was declared best player of the event, was quite contented after featuring in the PYF badminton event. Another player Subhan said that PYF events have created an atmosphere of competition among the youth of the country. The chief guest Adnan Saeed Rizvi later distributed prizes among the prominent performers.

Lahore Pugilists demonstrated wonderful boxing potential when they captured the Punjab Youth Festival Inter-Division Boxing Championship with 45 points at Civil Lines College on Thursday. In all, Boxing Teams from 9 divisions took part in three weight categories -55, -65 and 75 plus in the keenly contested event but the Lahore boxers Zulqarnain, Shahzaib and Hamza Fiaz stamped their supremacy by clinching Gold Medals in their respective  weight categories. Young boxer Hamza Fiaz was adjudged best player of the event. Faisalabad and Sargodha Divisions grabbed second and third positions respectively.

Multan Division clinched the Punjab Youth Festival Inter-Division Women Karate title here at Sports Board Punjab Gymnasium Hall on Thursday. Lahore and Faisalabad were declared joint second position holders while the third place was won by Sargodha. Fauzia Perveen of Lahore won the Inter-Division karate title in 58kg category. Sadeema of Faisalabad finished second while the third spot was shared by Sana Iqbal of Sargodha and Multan’s Saba. Misbah of Multan emerged winner in the 52kg class contest while the second position was taken by Mehwish Dishad of Lahore followed by Shakira of Gujranwala and Umaira of Sargodha who both took third position jointly. In -48kg category, Sumayya Muneer of Faisalabad upset her experienced rivals and grabbed the first position followed by Multan’s Rifat. The third spot in this category was shared by Rukhsana of Sargodha and Sidra Saeed of Gujranwala.

The Inter-Division Kabaddi Title was decided at Railways Stadium, Garhi Shahu where Sahiwal took the top honours against Gujranwala 56-51 in a thrilling contest. Sohail, Akbar and Rashid remained major performers for the winning team. University of Central Punjab won the university level kabaddi title beating Sargodha University in the final by 51-31 while Punjab College clinched the college level title defeating Punjab College Faisalabad by 56-48. Sargodha University was victorious in the men’s university level cricket event thrashing University of Central Punjab and in the college level, Punjab College of Commerce earned the winning trophy outplaying Post Graduate College Multan.
