Denmark wants to promote trade relations with Pakistan:Danish Ambassador, Jesper Moller Sorensen

Danish Ambassador, Jesper Moller SorensenLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan wants to promote trade and economic ties with Denmark and Danish investors can benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan especially Punjab.

He was talking to Danish Ambassador, Jesper Moller Sorensen who met him, here today. Matters of mutual interest and promotion of bilateral relations were discussed in the meeting. The Chief Minister thanked the Danish government and the ambassador for their support in the granting of GSP Plus status to Pakistan and said that this decision of European Union would result in increase in Pakistan’s textile export and greater business opportunities which would result in stability of national economy. He appreciated the role of Denmark in the granting of GSP Plus status to Pakistan.

The Chief Minister lauded the positive role of Danish Ambassador in the promotion of trade relations between the two countries and said that Pakistan would welcome Danish investment in different sectors while maximum facilities would be provided to the investors on priority basis.

Speaking on the occasion, Danish Ambassador Jesper Moller Sorensen said that there are vast opportunities of investment by Danish companies in Pakistan and he is personally informing Danish companies about the scope of investment in the sectors of recyclable energy, public health, agriculture and dairy sectors. He said that purpose of promotion of trade and investment in Pakistan is provision of better opportunities to the Pakistani people, increase in productive capacity resulting in poverty alleviation.

He said that Denmark is a small country and relies totally on trade with other countries. He said that Danish government believes in free market and was a strong supporter of GSP Plus status to Pakistan which would result in increase in its trade with European Union and creation of job opportunities in the country.

The Danish Ambassador said that his country wants to promote trade relations with Pakistan. He said that Denmark also desires to promote cooperation with Pakistan in energy, water management and other sectors. He said that Denmark has high expectations of the new government and its reforms programme is commendable.

Provincial Minister for Industry, Ch. Muhammad Shafique and Chairman Punjab Investment Board were also present on the occasion.
