Punjab Government announces new promotion policy for DEO’s

Rana Mashud Ahmad Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan has
announced to link the procedure of promotion of all district education
officers with the results of the examinations under Punjab Examination
Commission and Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education.

He said this while addressing a stakeholders’ conference on training
programme for the school teachers with the collaboration of UNICEF at
Directorate of Staff Development, here today.

The Minister said that the teachers will have to give best results in government schools for the improvement of their annual review report. He appreciated the strategy of Directorate of Staff Development on arranging three weeks special coaching for the preparation of annual examinations of the on the direction of Punjab government in primary schools giving less than
30 percent results in annual examination of fifth class under Punjab
Education Commission and said that this step will yield positive
results.

Rana Mashhood said that we should pay attention towards
quality education. He said that after a long time, sports culture has
been promoted in the educational institutions in Punjab. He said that
a pilot project of distributing computer tablets will start from April
in the smart schools where computer labs have been established, and
this project will be expanded to all schools in the second phase.
Programme Director DSD Ehsaan Bhutta informed that six lakh teachers
including education managers have been imparted DSD training during
the last three years and now a feedback of stakeholders is being
sought with regard to teachers licensing. Regional Programme Manager
Lahore Headquarter Ejaz Warraich said that performance of teachers is
improving as a result of holding this training programme. The
conference was also attended by Director Public Instructions Schools
Punjab Syed Mumtaz Hussain Shah.
