Every coming day brings in new innovations in the field of knowledge

Lahore: Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan hosted a dinner in the honour of the foreign delegates and more than 80 local educationists participating in a 2-day Multi-disciplinary Research Conference held at Kinnaird College Lahore in connection with Centenary celebrations of KC. The dinner reception took place at Civil Officers Mess, GOR-I, Lahore.

Addressing to the participants, the Minister said that every coming day brings in new changes and innovations in the field of knowledge. In order to keep pace with the world, it is necessary that instead of relying on others’ discoveries, an environment of research in line with the local conditions of the Pakistani society be created in educational institutions of the country so that our youth would find a way forward to resolve the socio-economic problems being confronted by the Pakistanis at large.

The Minister emphasized the need to impart workable research in social issues as well as in scientific sphere. He disclosed that the Punjab government was in the process of consultation with all the stakeholders to reach a consensus on uniformity in syllabus and a code of conduct has been in the pipeline which would help regulate the private sector educational institutions. As soon as this kind of consultation is completed, the new education policy of the province of Punjab will be announced which may take another three months. He expressed the resolve to transform Punjab into a role model of educational excellence. The Minister referred to a recent research study according to which the horrible drop rate of female students was due to lack of appropriate transport arrangement for them to reach their alma mater. He announced that Punjab government has planned a pilot project of free distribution of battery operated scooties to the girl students who would succeed to get consent of their parents in this regard. This step is aimed at minimizing suffocation in the society and to provide an enabling atmosphere to the women workforce, the Minister added.

These scooties will be provided to the students of Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi in February next year in the first phase as the parents of this women university have responded well through facebook and other social media.

Principal KC Dr. Rukhsana David, Vice Principal Dr. Nighat Khan and Director Research Dr. Saleha Naghmi and a delegate from UK also spoke on the occasion. Multi-disciplinary Research Group comprising of 25 female undergraduate students who presented their research papers in the technical session of the conference were also invited in the dinner in honour of their successful effort to expose the social evils in a valiant style with the methodology of problem resolution.
