JI rejects ISPR claims

Liaqat Baloch is briefing media about Shura decisionsLahore: A high level meeting of the Jamaat e Islami, held at Mansoora on Monday, with the JI Ameer, Syed Munawar Hasan, in the chair, has resolved that the armed forces have no right to directly interfere in politics or democratic issues.

JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, while briefing media men after the meeting said that the primary issues at present were the NATO supplies and the end of the drone attacks but certain elements having negative approach and ulterior motives were involving these national demands into irrelevant issues. Liaqat Baloch was flanked by JI deputy chiefs Dr Muhammad Kamal and Sirajul Haq.

He said the meeting had discussed the current situation in the country besides the political and non-military press release issued by the ISPR calling for an explanation from the JI. The meeting, he said, was of the considered view that the armed forces had no right to directly interfere in politics.

Liaqat Baloch said the meeting had decided to draw the attention of the federal government to the matter as the armed forces right to interfere in politics could not be accepted at all.

He said the high level meeting however wondered how the numerous resolutions of the JI and the policy statements of Syed Munawar Hasan paying tributes to the Jawans and officers of the armed forces and the security institutions and their martyrs including the martyrs of Salala and Upper Dir, could be ignored by the military high ups.

The meeting also resolved that Pakistan must be pulled out of the US war forthwith as it  was the continuation of military dictator Pervez Musharraf’s policy.

The meeting also assured the nation that the JI would continue its struggle for the national security, for freeing the country from US slavery, as also for safeguarding the ideological and geographical boundaries of the country.

The meeting was attended by JI deputy chiefs Ch. Muhammad Aslam Saleemi, Dr Muhammad Kamal,  Sirajul Haq, Maulana Abdul Ma’lik, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, Hafiz Sajid Anwar and others.
