Karachi action to boost economy :PEW

Lahore: The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Sunday said government’s interest in ensuring peace in Karachi will boost economy and rating of PML-N leaders.

During the last several decades politicians continued to assure masses and the business community of good days but they get nothing except encouraging statements, it said.

Now, government seems serious about reviving economy and clearing Karachi of organised is an integral part of this strategy, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.

He said that government stance has improved morale of the law enforcing agencies and   targeted operations in different parts of the city has improved the situation.

The decisions of the government including amendment in the ATA will strike terror in the hearts of hardened criminals and infuse confidence in the subordinate judiciary without which whole exercise will remain futile, he observed.

Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that vision and courage of the PM will help boost the limping economy and his rating which is already positive. Needless to say that Shahbaz Sharif, despite some weaknesses, is the best chief minister, he added.

He said that reduction in load-shedding, concensus on tackling terrorism through talks, reviving Nandipur Hydel Project and accelerating the Neelum-Jhelum hydro power project are some matters that have helped government gain popularity.

Similarly decision to spend Rs20 billion on the youth, Shahbaz Sharif’s laptop scheme in Punjab, resolve to privitise bleeding government corporations including selling a minority stake and hand over management control of PIA, is to win PML-N massive public support, said Dr. Mughal.
