CM suspends MS Jinnah Hospital

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, while taking notice of the death of a person bitten by snake due to negligence of doctors and other staff in Jinnah Hospital, has ordered to proceed against Prof. Nasir Mehmood Malik, Head of Medical Unit-III, Dr. Ijaz Ahmad Sheikh, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Mehmood Salah-ud-Din, Director Pharmacy, Dr. Saima Noman, Senior Registrar, Miss Nazia Kausar, Floor Pharmacist, Mustajab Ali Naseer, Emergency Pharmacist and Mst. Nasreen Ester, Sister Incharge, ICU Medical Unit-III under PIDA Act 2006.

The anti-venom injections were available in the hospital but the injection was not administered to the patient. He has also ordered to initiate inquiry under PIDA Act 2006 against all concerned medical staff and complete it expeditiously.

The Chief Minister has issued orders for immediate transfer of Prof. Nasir Mehmood Malik, Head of Medical Unit-III and Dr. Saima Noman, Senior Registrar whereas Dr. Ijaz Ahmad Sheikh, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Mehmood Salah-ud-Din, Director Pharmacy, Miss Nazia Kausar, Floor Pharmacist, Mustajab Ali Naseer, Emergency Pharmacist and Mst. Nasreen Ester, Sister Incharge, ICU Medical Unit-III have been suspended immediately as they failed to attend the patient bitten by snake for 48 hours.

He has also directed to re-visit the system of provision of life saving drugs to the patients in emergency, general wards, operation theaters, high dependency units and intensive care units.
