Punjab will spend 2% budget on sports: DG Sports Board

D G SportsLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has approved for allocating two percent of the total budget of all district governments of the province for the promotion of sports and further two percent for youth development.

This was disclosed by Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar while talking to media under “meet the press” programme at his office today. He said that Punjab government takes great interest in the promotion of sports in the province and due to its efforts, Pakistan has the honor to arrange the biggest event of sports of the world last year. He said that Punjab Youth Festival 2012 has been declared three hundred times biggest event than London Olympics 2012 as 33 lakh youth participated in this festival. DG Sports said that Punjab Youth Festival 2013 is going to be held in next November in which youth of the Punjab will break world records set by them. He said that developing sports fields in every city, town and village of Punjab is one of the top priorities of Punjab government. He said that we want to engage youth of Punjab in healthy activities so that a healthy society could be constituted.

Usman Anwar told that a walk of thousands of youth is being organized on Sunday, August 18 at 10 am which will start from Liberty Chowk Gulberg Lahore on the road leading towards Zahoor Elahi Road upto Main Boulevard Chowk for expressing solidarity with flood affectees and awareness campaign against dengue. He told that the men and women will walk in separate lane and scouts of schools will walk between them. Replying to a question, DG Sports told that Punjab government did not prohibit any best team to play in Football Stadium Nishter Park Complex Lahore. He said that the best teams are entitled to play in Football Stadium according to the prescribed procedure as this stadium has been constructed for playing.
