Punjab government to establish education city in Lahore

Minister Edu and IrragationLahore: Provincial Minister for Education, Sports, Tourism, Youth Affairs and Archeology Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has announced formation of an Education Advisory Board for ensuring coordination in policy matters regarding standardized education at different levels. The advisory board to be headed by Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan would comprise Dr. Ijaz-un-Nabi, Dr. Ayesha Ghaus, Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Dr. Amjad Saqib, Secretary Higher Education Farhan Aziz Khawaja and Secretary Schools Education Abdul Jabbar Shaheen.

This was disclosed by Provincial Minister while speaking at a function arranged in honour of senior columnists at a local hotel today. The Minister also indicated setting up of Primary School Commission to regulate private educational institutions in the province. The names of the members of the commission will be finalized during the current week.

The Minister informed senior columnists that Punjab government has decided to establish Education City in Rakh Chahal Dera in Lahore where campuses of world-renowned universities of seven developed countries would be set up. He said that the Chief Minister has directed to declare Education City spread over an area of hundreds of acres as “Green Area” and only battery operated hybrid vehicles will be allowed to enter university campuses while other vehicles and motorcycles would be parked outside.
