Lahore: Residents of Ahata Mulchand, Jamia Ashrafi and Shah Jamal have spoken up against the concerned police station’s SHO for willfully harboring nefarious scheme of gambling.
Following the new Ichra Police SHO, Hussnain Haider Shah took over Parchi, card, billiard, horse race at Shah Jamal have shoot up, residents of the area, Jabar, Amin and kaleem said.
“We have been spending miserable life due to the gambling of parchi, card, billiard and horse race as it is directly affecting their lives particularly their children,” Aslam, who runs general store in the area.
Residents said that the new SHO is harboring gambling fearlessly with the assistance of policemen appointed for more than eight to ten years at the place including drivers and other policemen (Ghufran Chema, Salim, Khalil (drivers) and others) who work in other police stations but use Ichra Police Station as their dwelling place.
The open gambling in streets, on roads and in front of our houses has been badly affecting our children. So many times Ichra police has been informed but of no avail, a resident, Ramaza said.
“I have been observing that the parchi, card and billiards gambling has been doubled in few days in the area.
“Police drivers, mohafiz, who are provided with vine of their choices by the gamblers, visit these gambling points, shake hands with the gamblers and spending some time with them moved away.
“The police mohafiz have good terms with the gamblers due to which they are so powerful that resident don’t dare to complain against them,” he said.
“Anyone who goes against these gamblers police implicates them in false litigations,” the resident said.
“The other day police arrested ten card gamblers from Shah Jamal area the SHO released five while against five the police registered case giving an impression that the police was against the gambles,” another resident Amanat Ali said.
He said Javed Market where hefty gambling has been underway has again become a source of minting for the police. The police can make as much money as they can.
“Gambling cannot flourish without the due cooperation of police, another resident seeking anonymity informing that Ichra police Toyota comes at pardeshi hotel daily collects its share from the gamblers and leave.”
