A delegation of Bangladeshi journalists call on CM Punjab

CM PUNJAB-1 (1)Lahore: A 9-member delegation of print and electronic media of Bangladesh called on Chief Minister Punjab Najam Sethi at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here today. Political systems of Pakistan and Bangladesh, election process and bilateral relations were discussed on the occasion.

Talking to the Bangladeshi journalists, Chief Minister Najam Sethi said that the role of media has assumed great importance in the present age. He said that the world has taken the form of a global village due to the vigorous role of media. He said that media also plays an important part in exposing corruption and highlighting social problems. He said that Pakistani media extended full cooperation in the recent general elections.

He said that politics is the name of governance and the masses always remembers such political parties as provide good administration. He said that an impartial caretaker government was set up in Pakistan for the elections. He said that he was nominated by Pakistan Peoples Party for the post of caretaker chief minister and the opposition fully agreed. He said that his experience as caretaker chief minister has been memorable. Referring to the relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Najam Sethi said that there is a need for promoting contact at public level between the two countries. He said that it is also important to promote political and economic relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He said that exchange of delegations of traders, journalists, students and the people of other sectors can strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Members of Bangladeshi delegation of journalists while expressing their views said that transparent and impartial conduct of elections and peaceful transfer of power is essential in developing countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh. They said that the first phase of holding of transparent and peaceful elections has been successfully completed in Pakistan and now it is going through the phase of transfer of power. The political system of Bangladesh and the role of political parties were also discussed in the meeting.

The Bangladeshi delegation of journalists included Sub Editor of daily Independent Abu Md. Masani, Special Correspondent of ATN Bangla Mahfuzur Rehman Mishu, Senior Reporter of daily Amer Desh Muhammad Ilyas Hussain, City Editor of The News Today Badiul Alam and others.
