Rulers to steer the country out of the energy crisis: Munawar Hassan

Syed Munawar HassanLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has impressed upon the newly elected rulers to steer the country out of the energy crisis in order to affect an economic explosion.

Talking to newsmen at the Lahore airport on his return from Karachi Tuesday, he said it was a pity that a nuclear state should be facing a serious energy crisis.

Syed Munawar Hasan said that the national hero, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, had

frustrated the Indian aggressive designs by detonating the nuclear device but unfortunately the military dictator surrendered to a single phone call from the US, and placed the country’ land and air bases at the disposal of the enemy.

Similarly, he said, the civilian rulers plundered the national wealth during the last five years and transferred the same to their foreign bank accounts, making the nation  bankrupt.

He said, it was a happy sign that general elections had been held and a new civilian government was in the making. He said the biggest challenge before the new rulers was to overcome the energy crisis in order to provide relief to the masses, the industry and the agriculturists and traders.

He said that the new rulers would have to make sacrifices by adopting austerity and simplicity, cutting down the federal and the provincial cabinets to he minimum, reducing the non productive expenditure and also control corruption.

In the present situation, he said, the rulers would have to devise policies keeping in views vital national interests instead of the US interests. He noted that US interference in the country had already begun as US President Obama had announced that drone attacks could continue for another two decades. Therefore, he said, Pakistan government would have to protect the country’s interests after US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014.
