Talking to a private TV channel, Nizami said that the caretaker government would maintain law and order situation in the country for smooth electoral process.
Replying to a question about former President Pervaiz Musharraf’s cases, he said that the matter was sub-judice and the decision would be taken by the court in this regard.
The caretaker government would implement all the decisions of judiciary, he added.
He said that it fell in the purview of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure scrutiny of the candidates in the light of Asghar Khan case verdict. It was not the responsibility of caretaker government to take any action in that regard.
He said that the caretaker set-up was functioning according to the constitution.He said that the ECP was an independent institution.
