Lahore: PML – N’s Spokesperson, Senator Pervez Rasheed has welcomed the Code of Conduct for Media, issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan. He demanded that action be taken against the highly biased and politicized reporting done by government owned Pakistan TV Network and Radio Pakistan.
He added that Radio Pakistan and PTV are under the control of political appointees who were given their jobs not because of their technical competence but due to their political allegiances. Given this fact, it is unthinkable that such individuals would allow for fair and balanced coverage throughout the election campaign. As a result not only is PML – N getting the least amount of coverage but is also the victim of negative propaganda being spread through TV Shows and News Reports on both PTV and Radio Pakistan.
Senator Rasheed pointed out that a number of these individuals are contract employees and that preparations were under way to get them permanent appointments within Radio Pakistan and PTV. He requested the ECP to look in to this matter as per their orders there can be no new hiring. He also called upon Care Taker Information Minister, Arif Nizami to take notice of this.
