Lahore: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has managed 497 Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) in all Districts of the Punjab in last 24 hours, in which 07 precious lives were lost and 373 victims were seriously injured whereas 209 minor injured were provided first aid at the accidents’ site by rescue officials across the Province.
These 497 road traffic crashes affected 80 pedestrians; 313 passengers and 196drivers. Total 119 RTAs took place in Lahore with 142 victims placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 58 in Faisalabad with 66 victims and Multan remained at third position with 34 RTAs and 46 victims.
According to the data of Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Rescue 1122, out of total 589 RTA’s victims, 476 were males and 113 females, while age group of the victims show that 86 were under 18 year of age, 338 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 165 victims were reported above 40 years. The vehicles involved in traffic accidents included 403 motorbikes, 41 auto rickshaws, 50motor cars, 18 vans, 12 passenger buses, 13 trucks, 55 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving vehicles.
