Free, fair and transparent elections will be ensured:Sethi

CM PUNJAB-2 (4)Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Najam Sethi has said that holding of free, fair and transparent elections will be ensured and all necessary steps will be taken for this purpose. He said that impartial and transparent conduct of elections is the priority of the government and it will go to any extent in this regard.

He was talking to President Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) Punjab Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar during a meeting at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here today. Matters of mutual interest especially transparent conduct of elections was discussed on the occasion. Ghulam Mustafa Khar felicitated Najam Sethi on assuming the office of caretaker chief minister.

Chief Minister Najam Sethi said that caretaker setup will discharge its national responsibility of the conduct of fair and transparent election in an efficient manner. He said that his consultations with the heads of various political parties and political leaders regarding general elections have been very fruitful and no one has asked him for the posting of any officer of his choice. He said that transfers of officers will soon be made in response to the orders of Election Commission of Pakistan. He said that an impartial team of bureaucracy is being formed in Punjab so that no one can point an accusing finger. He said that completely neutral and non-political ministers have been inducted in the provincial caretaker cabinet. He said that a comprehensive and effective plan is being evolved for providing a peaceful atmosphere to the voters on election day as the holding of transparent elections is the top priority of the government.

Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar welcomed the appointment of Najam Sethi as the chief minister and expressed the hope that he will ensure impartial and transparent conduct of elections.
