9 more dead in road traffic accidents in Punjab

Lahore: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) alone has managed 377 Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) in all Districts of the Punjab in last 24 hours, in which 9 precious lives were lost and 274 victims were seriously injured whereas 195 minor injured were provided first aid at the accidents’ site by rescue officials across the Province.

These 377 road traffic crashes affected 87 pedestrians; 246 passengers and 145 drivers. Some 102 RTAs took place in Lahore with 120 victims placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 66 in Faisalabad with 76, 35 in Multan with 42 victims and 28 in Gujranwala with 33 victims.

According to the data of Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Rescue 1122, out of total 377 RTA’s victims, 478 were males and 101 females, while age group of the victims show that 83 were under 18 year of age, 289 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 28 victims were reported above 40 years.

The vehicles involved in traffic accidents included 290 motorbikes, 44 auto rickshaws, 36 motor cars, 06 passenger buses, 11 trucks, 73 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving vehicles.
