13 dead ,680 injured in road traffic accidents in last 24 hours

Lahore: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) alone has managed 542 Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) in all Districts of the Punjab in last 24 hours, in which 13 precious lives were lost and 481 victims were seriously injured whereas 196 minor injured were provided first aid at the accidents’ site by rescue officials across the Province.

These 542 road traffic crashes affected 113 pedestrians; 355 passengers and 222 drivers. Some 146 RTAs took place in Lahore with 170 victims placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 51 in Faisalabad with 62, 35 in Gujranwala with 35 victims and 36 in Multan with 46 victims.

According to the data of Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Rescue 1122, out of total 693 RTA’s victims, 548 were males and 141 females, while age group of the victims show that 116 were under 18 year of age, 430 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 143 victims were reported above 40 years.

The vehicles involved in traffic accidents included motorbikes, auto rickshaws, motor cars, tractors, passenger buses, trucks, slow moving vehicles and other types of auto vehicles.
