Lahore: Britain High Commissioner and UK Aid Member Tom Owens called on Pakistan Muslim League President Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and PML Punjab Ch Parvez Elahi at their residence here today. During the meeting, views were exchanged regarding prevailing political situation in the country.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that for the first time in Pakistan power will be transferred from one civilian govt to another civilian govt, we have played our role for strengthening of democracy, because of this today roots of democracy in Pakistan are becoming stronger.
British High Commissioner Adam Thomson while talking to Ch Shujat Hussain and Ch Parvez Elahi on this occasion said that Britain attaches great importance to relations with Pakistan. He appreciated the works done during tenure of Ch Parvez Elahi as Chief Minister Punjab and in particular praised him for projects in education sector 1122 Emergency Service in the province.
The British High Commissioner said free and fair electoral process and acceptable elections being held timely in Pakistan are important for future of relations between the two countries. He said Britain is ready to work with any govt to be established in Pakistan after the free elections, European Union wants to bring its observers for elections in Pakistan and Britain will also fully participate in the observance of the electoral process and the day elections are held in Pakistan.
