Process of development is continuing despite difficulties:Dr. Shujaat Ali

Lahore: The number of big and medium scale industrial units in Punjab have increased beyond eighteen thousand and one million persons at these institutions. There were 6623 industrial units in the province in 1975 which have now increased to more than 18 thousand. This process of development is continuing despite difficult times which is highly encouraging.

This was stated by Secretary Industries Dr. Shujaat Ali while addressing a ceremony in connection with the launching of “district pre-investment studies 2013” of Industries Department. Secretary Industries said that information about industrial units in all districts of Punjab has been given in district pre-investment studies 2013 for the purpose of the guidance of the investors regarding investment opportunities in various districts and the incentives offered by the government for this purpose. He said that Directorate of Industries has made a sincere effort to apprise the foreign investors about safe investment areas and their locations so that they could make investment in the sector of their choice, help the government and provide job opportunities to the people and thereby alleviating poverty.

Director Industries Punjab Sh. Muhammad Siddique while addressing the function said that Industries Department has also published new industrial directory regarding industrial units in the province which will be helpful to the investors. He said that besides production of each district, its geographical limits, population, vocational and technical institutions, handicrafts, natural resources, agri items, major crops, vegetables, livestock, infrastructure, details of industrial structure, trends and the existing industrial units have been given in a comprehensive manner in the district industrial directory. He said that necessary guidance and instructions have been given about investment opportunities in agriculture, livestock and other sectors of each district in the districts pre-investment studies. He said that a special reference has also been made about chemical sector where there are vast opportunities of profitable investment. He said that industrial estates of the Punjab province are playing a very important role in accelerating the process of industrial progress in the province.
