Pakistan named four more records in Guinness World Records

Lahore: Another four Guinness World Records were DSC_9633DSC_9653DSC_9648DSC_9660DSC_9702 organized by the Sports Board Punjab on day two Guinness activity on Wednesday.With the four successful GWR attempts on Wednesday Pakistan’s count of records in the Punjab Youth Festival has risen to 21 World Records.

During the Festival 11 records were created while six were made on Tuesday and the young people of the country added another four.
Speaking on the occasion of thumb wrestling chain, Deputy Speaker and chief organizer sports Punjab Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said that the vision of shining Punjab given by the government has been successfully achieved. “The Guinness World Records made during the PYF in not only the success of Punjab but it is one of the greatest achievements of the country. All the promises we (Punjab government) have made were all fulfilled and if the people of the country gave us another chance we would spread our mission throughout the country for a glorious Pakistan,” he added. Usman Anwar, Director General Sports and Youth Affairs was also present on the occasion.

It was Mohammad Rashid again who after breaking two world records on Tuesday, created another GWR. He first broke 68 one-inch thick pine boards in one minute with his elbow and later if time permitted would attempt another record to break maximum pine boards in 30 seconds with his head.

Kevin Shelley (USA) held the previous most pine boards broken records in one minute was 43 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports, in Orlando, Florida, USA, on 13 November 2008. While the most pine boards broken with forehead in 30 seconds was 32 and it was also held by Kevin Shelley (USA) which was set at El Show Olímpico, in Mexico City, Mexico, on 30 July 2008.

During the course, Largest Paint Swatch created by Sports Board Punjab was also declared another GWR. It measured 84.31 square feet while the previous Swatch was measured 6.31 square metres (68 square feet), and was created by PPG Pittsburgh Paints (USA) at Market Square in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, on 1 April 2011.
Pakistan test bowler Rana Navedul Hasan went for the fourth record of the when he faced 45 balls in a minute, moving past Andrew Flintoff’s record of 19 deliveries he faces in a minute.

In another mass participation record in which most of the youth of Punjab took part created another Guinness Record of most people arm wrestling simultaneously. In all 1450 young people took part in the triumphant attempt of arm wrestling at a time breaking the previous most people arm wrestling simultaneously record of 1,018 people that was achieved by the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School (UK) in Elstree, Hertfordshire, UK, on 23 March 2012.
