Badami Bagh incident is a challenge for Judiciary: First Muslim British Parliamentarian Chaudhary Sarwar

Lahore: First Muslim British Parliamentarian and President of Safe Communities Pakistan (SCP) Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar has asked the government of Pakistan to establish speedy courts and culprits involved in Joseph Colony incident should be taken to task, as the incident has damaged the image of Pakistan.

He expressed these views while distributing cash Rs 25000 for each home among members of affected families of Joseph Colony of Badami Bagh during a ceremony organized by SCP at Al-Hamra Arts Council on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by the Director General Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr. Rizwan Naseer, Bishop of Gulf and Iran Azad Marshal, Chairman Lahore Citizen Community Forum Mian Tahir Javed, Secretary General Peace and Harmony Network of Pakistan Javed William, Chairman Pakistani Chamber of Commerce of UK Razi Khan, Rotary Club President Pervaiz Khalid and members of provincial assembly including Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Mian Naseer Ahmed and others.

In his welcome address DG Rescue Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer expressed his deep grief and sorrow over this unfortunate incident and said we have rescued 1.7 million victims without any discrimination of cast, creed and religion. He said the main focus of Rescue 1122 was to establish a Safer Pakistan where everyone could safely live and travel.

Besides condemning the incident, Chaudhary Sarwar said this incident was the challenge for Judiciary of Pakistan as the Judiciary of UK had taken speedy action against those involved in London Riots and put them behind the bars within three weeks after grabbing footages from CCTV Cameras. He asserted that these perpetrators, who have burnt down the houses of Christians, have no religion or belief. Chaudhary Sarwar stated that once discriminatory slogans were notice against the Muslims in UK, but all parties unanimously had announced that no such discriminatory act would be tolerated against the Muslims.

Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Azad Marshal said Islam and Christianity share moral values as both religions have firm faith in peace and prosperity. He said those who targeted Mosques or Churches were terrorists. Marshall disclosed that Ch. Sarwar was the person, who raised the voice of Christian Community of Joseph Colony on which Chief Minister Punjab increased the compensation amount from 2 to 5 lakhs. Mian Tahir Javed said no political interference would be tolerated in this case and all the culprits involved in this incident would be prosecuted as per law.

Khalid Pervaiz and Mian Naseer Ahmed termed Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar as blessing for monitories of Pakistan, as he always come forward and work for the welfare of oppressed class without any discrimination. Razi Khan said that Christians have found Chaudhary Sarwar as their true friend and benefactor, who felt their sorrow and addressed their problems timely. Javed William, Khalil Tahir Sindhu, and others also spoke on this occasion.
