Imran inaugurates Cancer Hospital in Peshawar

Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Saturday that the establishment of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital (SKMH) in Peshawar was a move to facilitate the people living in terrorism-hit province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) while making it clear that the initiative had no political motives.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of SKMH here in Peshawar, Imran Khan said that the country was going through critical phase of history as terrorism had crippled the economy of entire Pakistan including KPK. “Just like great nations, we will get rid of all sorts of crisis faced by the country,” said the PTI chief.

Khan praised the provincial government for providing land for the cancer hospital. He informed that the project of cancer hospital would be completed in the period of two and a half years with the cost of Rs 2 billion. He said that the management of SKMH Lahore has won the award of best management twice and the new branch of cancer hospital would also work on the same lines, adding that he and his party had no political interest behind taking such public friendly initiative. “People living in the province will be benefited from the hospital as ratio of cancer is higher in KPK as compared to other provinces,” said Imran. “Not even for a single day SKMH faced any hiccup and I believe that Allah almighty gifted the world cup to the country for establishment of this hospital,” he said.

He said that many had forgotten his speech of the world cup but some people still remember that and this public friendly move was for the welfare of human beings. He said that the provincial government of KPK had provided the best place for the cancer hospital, informing that the Sindh government had provided a land for hospital far from the city.
“Terrorism has devastated the country including the KPK but now we will extend our all out efforts to bring the country out of all the crisis,” said Imran Khan, adding that he had never seen such a critical time in the country during his whole life. He said that the great nations learned from their faults and the Pakistani people would also do the same for getting rid of all the problems.
