Special children travel by metro bus

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that while the special children do not have certain capabilities, they have been compensated by Allah Almighty with some others. He said that special children are not inferior to normal children with regard to God-gifted qualities, talent and hard work. He said that physical disability does not create any hurdle in the struggle and capacity of special children. He said that it is responsibility of the government that like normal children, it should also encourage special children at every level. He said that position-holder special children have achieved a prominent place in the society on the basis of their hard work and steadfastness and Punjab government fully appreciates their spirit and efforts. He said that philanthropists and NGOs working for the welfare of special children are ensuring success for themselves in this world and the world hereafter.

He was addressing a function arranged by Special Education Department for awarding cash prizes and commendatory certificate to special children who achieved prominent positions in Secondary School Examination at Punjabi Cultural Complex, Gaddafi Stadium, here today. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Special Assistant Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Advisor Zakiya Shahnawaz, Secretary Special Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, former chief secretary Pervaiz Masood, special children, their parents, teachers and a large number of prominent personalities associated with NGOs were present on the occasion. The Chief Minister gave cash prizes of 65 lakh rupees and commendatory certificates to 31 male and female special children. The Chief Minister said that holding of such ceremonies is very important for encouraging special children. He said that special children have polished their talent through their courage and determination for which they as well as their parents and teachers deserve credit. He said that despite problems, special children have displayed commitment and spirit of hard work and their self-confidence is commendable. That is why, he said, they have become a symbol of determination and courage and the self-confidence on their faces reflect that they do not feel inferior to normal citizens of the society. He said that he is hopeful that special children will be able to achieve a distinguished place in the society in future. He said that proper attention was not paid to the education and training of special children in the past while his government also did not focus on this important sector in its last tenure and he fully realizes this fact. However, he said, present Punjab government has upheld the rights of special children and brought them at par with the normal children. He said that free solar panels are also being given to special children under Ujala programme. He said that the budget of Special Education Department has been increased to rupees one billion. He said that lifts are also being installed at metro bus stations for the benefit of special persons. He said that civilized societies extend all necessary facilities to the special persons. He said that Punjab government has established a fund for rehabilitation of special persons while two degree colleges have been established for special boy and girl students. Similarly, he said, three institutions have been set up for the training of teachers of special children. He said that UPS are also being provided to the educational institutions of special children at a cost of 44 crore rupees as like other fields, education sector has also been badly affected by the worst loadshedding. He said that federal government has shown criminal negligence towards resolving energy crisis and everyone knows how much damage it has caused to the country. He said that Insha Allah darkness will soon be removed from the country and the journey towards light will begin. He announced 50 percent special allowance to employees of Special Education Department. The Chief Minister also announced laptops and 20 thousand rupees in cash each for a special male child Moazam Ali who presented Naat and a special girl child. He also ordered to present guard of honour to position-holder special children.

Special Students Visit Metro Bus-2Earlier, Advisor Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz said that special children need love and care. She said that Chief Minister Punjab attaches high importance to special children and that is why he is present at the function to encourage these children. She said that the measures taken by the Punjab government for the education and training of special children are commendable. Secretary Special Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani informed that special children have achieved a prominent position in the education field through their hard work and resolve. He said that despite problems special children have not lost courage and made a place for themselves in the society with their continuous efforts. He said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has upheld the right of the position- holder special children and it is hoped that he will continue to work for the development of special education sector.
