Police force further improve its efficiency :Shahbaz Shahbaz

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that there is a need for police force to further improve its efficiency in order to ensure provision of justice. He said sufficient resources have been made available, during the last five years for the capacity-building and training of police force. He said hundred percent merit-oriented recruitments have been ensured in the police department, from the level of a policeman to officer, and no political influence or interference was tolerated in this regard. He said that performance of Elite Police Force in protection of life and property of the people is splendid. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said he salutes the police force for its sacrifices during action against terrorists. The Chief Minister said that police training school was reactivated and provided resources, which had earlier been left paralyzed in the previous rule, but present Punjab government has taken effective steps due to which the institution of Elite Police Force has been rejuvenated.

Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif expressed these views while addressing the 15th passing-out parade of Elite Force at Elite Police Training School Bedian Road. Member Punjab Assembly Col. ® Shuja Khanzada, Secretary Home, acting Inspector General Police Punjab, DIG Elite Police Force, Commandant Elite Police Training School as well as police officers, jawans and their relatives were present in the function.

Addressing the passing-out parade, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said Elite Police Force is displaying best performance against heinous crimes and terrorism. He said, unfortunately, terrorists had also attacked this institution, but its officers and jawans foiled the nefarious aims of the terrorists. He said officers and jawans of Elite Force and Punjab police have shown valor and achieved distinguished position in the society. The Chief Minister said he salutes the sacrifices rendered by officers and jawans and to those who embraced martyrdom, while fighting against terrorists to protect life and property and honor of the citizens. He said that the history of Elite Police Force and Punjab police is full of dedication to duty and both forces have displayed unprecedented performance to ensure protection of life and property of the people. He said, during the previous era, Elite Police Training School was left paralyzed, due to which the performance of police force was negatively impacted. He said present Punjab government has taken effective steps due to which Elite Police Training School is imparting latest training to the officers and jawans of police and other departments. He said there is a need to evolve an effective system for ensuring protection of life and property of the people and to provide justice to citizens, for which capacity-building of police force and its training is utmost essential. He said Punjab government had arranged training of police officers in cooperation with brotherly country of Turkey, where they were conducted modern refresher courses, while many police officers have returned to the country, after completing their training in Turkey. He said the police force has been imparted training to combat terrorism on modern lines in collaboration with the Turkish government, while this collaboration would be further enhanced. He said Turkey has also displayed vigorous cooperation with the Punjab government in metro bus project, along with further improving Solid Waste Management System, for which we are grateful to Turkey. He said Turkey can also help us in improving law and order situation in Punjab. He said the officers and jawans of Punjab police are ensuring protection of life and property of 10 crore people of the province. He said Punjab government had doubled salaries of police in 2009-10, at a cost of Rs. 8 billion annually, while it would also continue in future to make available all possible resources to the police to ensure protection of life and property of the people. He said that dream of progressive and prosperous country can never by achieved, without complete eradication of extremism and militancy, nor can the country be transformed as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal without it. He said Home Secretary has been directed to make plan to provide more resources to Punjab police and Elite Police Training School. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said, if people gave another chance to serve them, the performance of police would be further improved. The Chief Minister congratulated officers and jawans of police department and prisons department, who have successfully completed their training courses at Elite School. He announced 20 percent additional allowance for the instructors of Elite Police Training School. The Chief Minister was given guard of honor by officers and jawans, who have completed their training at Elite Police Training School. The Chief Minister also distributed prizes among those who displayed outstanding performance during the course. Various displays of martial art, firing and other aspects were also shown on the occasion. The Chief Minister appreciated the performance of jawans and also inspected the parade. He was also given a memorable shield by the acting IG. In his address of welcome, the acting IG said that Elite School has become an exemplary institution, because of excellent available training facilities. He informed that more than 700 officers and jawans have completed their training at Elite Police Training School. Acting IG also paid tributes to the martyred police officers and jawans, who laid down their lives to protect life and property of the citizens.
