PTI suspends basic membership of Khalid Aziz Lone

Lahore: Hamid Khan1Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Election Commissioner Hamid Khan Advocate has suspended the basic membership of PTI leader Khalid Aziz Lone for disturbing the peaceful conduct of intra-party elections at Gujranwala and being accused of violence against media in the process.
“It has been reported to the Central Election Commission that on February 26, 2013, you disturbed the peaceful conduct of intra-Party elections at Gujranwala. In the process, you are also accused of assaulting the media people causing injury to some cameramen and damaging their equipment,” said the official letter issued here by PTI election commission.
The letter said that in the light of the above-stated facts, Mr Lone has been apparently guilty of gross indiscipline. “It has, therefore, been decided to suspend your membership of the Party with immediate effect”.
Furthermore, Mr Lone was asked to explain within three days as to why disciplinary proceedings including expulsion from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should not be initiated against him for violation of the Party discipline.
“Your response should be addressed to the undersigned. If the same is not received within the stipulated time, it will be presumed that you have nothing to state by way of your defence and your case will be forwarded to the Election Tribunal, Punjab for initiating appropriate disciplinary proceedings against you,” said the official letter sent to Mr Lone by Hamid Khan, the PTI CEC.
