Ch Pervaiz Elahi elected party’s Punjab president

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League senior central leader and Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that positive role of our party strengthened democracy and system in the country, Federal and Provincial Govts completed their five years tenure, by stopping billions of dollars of foreign investment for projects of our tenure hostility towards Punjab was demonstrated, we had written new history of service as compared to those who have destroyed the province through flop schemes whereas 4000 schools of children of the poor were closed by those who have established four Daanish Schools in five years, we had launched successful welfare projects for the common and poor man, lawyers, traders, workers, minorities and journalists, performance of our colleagues, workers and wings remained very commendable and great and in few months we have held successful and historical public meetings in 15 cities with the hard work of local party leaders and love of the people. He said this while addressing an enthusiastic meeting of the Provincial; General Council after being elected as the President of Pakistan Muslim League Punjab here today.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Council and the Election Commission. Ch Parvez Elahi said that N-League ruled Punjab with the support of the “lotas” for which there was no moral and legal justification. He asked what sort of service was performed by dumping funds of hospitals medicines and of textbooks of the children the poor in “Jangla” Bus? He said that after playing the role of opposition in an effective, strong and responsible manner at the national and provincial levels for three and half years, we decided to support the govt in view of the Peoples Party policy of reconciliation so that peoples elected assemblies complete their constitutional tenure. He said that Punjab Govt has done no good work in any field, our educational vision and commitment was that investment in education means investment in prosperous Pakistan, we took basic decisions for promotion of education including worth mentioning measures of provision of necessary facilities, free education and textbooks up to Matric and recruitment of 70 thousand teachers on merit, number of international organizations including World Bank had appreciated our programme but due to their policies, even education sector also like other sectors is suffering from worst type of decay adding that Mian Shahbaz Sharif gave lap tops only to such students who were enrolled as voters.

Continuing, Ch Parvez Elahi said with our good intention, we launched 1122 and Rescue Service, and introduced welfare projects like free education, free medicines for such segments of the society who were helpless, established schools and centres for education and training of special children and child beggars, established Consumer Courts which have so far provided justice to 18 thousand consumers, established Prosecution Service for quick and cheap justice and assistance of the courts, unfortunately all welfare projects of our tenure were either completely closed down or for reducing their utility, funds were stopped and obstructions were created. Describing Shahbaz Sharif Govt as the enemy govt of the foreign investment, Ch Parvez Elahi, billions of dollars of foreign investment for projects of our tenure like underground train system, Mubarak Centre and Sports City was stopped and returned by writing letters to the donors. He said if these projects of foreign investment were not stopped then besides Rs 20 billion foreign investment, thousands of families would have got employment and indirectly lakhs of people would have benefitted. He said the media should draw comparison of his tenure and brain less present govt in all fields including law and order the reality would come before everyone, the s-called “Khadam-e-A’ala” had withdrawn money from every sector and dumed the same into “Jangla” Bus on which Rs one billion subsidy is provided every month, what will happen to it after March 16? He said we established Journalists Colonies in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi, established Multan Press Club and Shahbaz Sharif stopped funds of the journalists of Multan and asked them to change the name of Ch Zahur Elahi Hall which they flatly refused, we introduced free medical service for the lawyers which N-League abolished, we always worked for the welfare and well-being of the people, our govt did 14 such works which were done for the first time not only in the history of Punjab but of entire Pakistan.

Ch Parvez Elahi congratulated MPA Hafiz Qamar Hayat Kathia, former MPA Khalid Nabi Gujjar, former Nazim and candidate NA- 114 Ch Maqsood Ahmad, MPA Ch Tahir Iqbal, former MPA Azeem Noori Ghumman, Hafiz Ammar Yassir and former District Nazim Tariq Bashir Cheema for organizing historical public meetings in Shorkot, Samundari, Pasrur, Vehari, Sialkot, Talagang and Bahawalpur respectively. He also announced that on March 1, public meetings will be held in Hafizabad under auspices of Mehdi Hassan Bhatti and Federal Minister Liaquat Abbas Bhatti and on March 14 in Jhang under the auspices of MNA Sahibzada Mehboob Sultan.
