Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Secretary Information Shafqat Mahmood on Friday condemned in strongest terms the brutal killing of a Pakistani soldier by Indian forces. According to media reports, the solider had inadvertently crossed the border crossing into Indian Occupied Kashmir in KhoiRatta sector, into the Indian side of Line of Control (LoC).
In a statement issued here, Shafqat Mahmood said that the incident reflected the hostile posture adopted by Indian military against Pakistan recently. He said the killing was a violation of the UN conventions as well as the norms of decency between neighbouring countries.
“At a time when the peoples, civil society and the governments of both Pakistan and India are taking bold steps to ensure peace between both the countries, it seems that some elements on the Indian side are trying to foil these efforts,” he said.
The PTI leader said that under the UN conventions, even the prisoners of war have certain rights and even the border incidents need to be dealt with restraint. He said when both the nations are heading towards peaceful settlement of all their issues, some elements in Indian army, bureaucracy and media were creating misunderstandings by adopting hostile attitude against Pakistan.
“Pakistanis still remember the hostile attitude adopted by Indian extremists against Pakistani women cricket team and the hockey players who were sent back and even harrassed in India by Hindu extremists. On the other hand, Pakistanis welcomed Indian visitors with open arms and hearts..
The PTI leader said that both the neighbours need to adopt positive approach to resolve their conflicts peacefully.
