Lahore: While welcoming Supreme Court verdict rejecting Dr Tahir ul Qadri’s petition for reconstitution of the Election Commission, Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hassan, has deplored the Election Commission’s inability to implement the apex court decision for fresh delimitation of the constituencies in Karachi and verification of the electoral lists through the army.
Addressing the concluding session of the JI central workshop for party workers at Mansoora on Thursday, he said that thethat had was holding the mini Pakistan and the country’s economic hub as hostage. However, he said, if the agencies gave up the MQM’s patronage, it wont secure a single seat from the port city.
He said the JI wont not support military operation in Karachi as the mega city was already facing the consequences of Nasirullah Babar’s operation. He said that in spite of the solid proof of the MQM’s involvement in target killings, extortion and dead bodies stuffed in gunny bags, the agencies were patronizing the terrorists, and even supported it winning the elections. If the agencies gave up the MQM’s support, the elections in the city could be made transparent.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that the US dreams of overnight control on Afghanistan had been shattered and it had to receive coffins of its troops during the last twelve years. Afghanistan had proved the graveyard of the US military might and technology and it would disintegrate in the manner the former Soviet Union had vanished from the world scene, he added.
The JI Ameer said that if the rulers showed their mala fides in the formation of the care taker government through consensus, the JI would not only protest over that, but would also resist that, and won’t accept any such a government. He also stressed upon the Election Commission to ensure enforcement of the ban on the development projects and fresh appointments to prevent pre polls rigging.
Syed Munawar Hasan said it was an irony that while India had hanged Afzal Guru despite lack of evidence against him, the cowardly Pakistani rulers were hesitant to execute proven saboteur Sarbajeet Singh. He pointed out that the Indian Foreign and Interior Ministers had exposed the terrorism nature of the B.J.P and Vishva Hindu Preshad, the rulers in Islamabad were keeping their silence. Solid evidence was available on BJP’s involvement in the Samjotha express fire that burnt alive dozens of Pakistanis. However, the rulers were not ready to speak against New Delhi or to take the matter to the International Court of Justice. Even the Indian Supreme Court had proved its strong bias against the Muslims, he added.
