Khosa presides a meeting for the restoration of flood affected areas

Zulfiqar KhosaLahore: Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa presided over a meeting held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat here today, for restoration of the areas affected due to floods of 2012 in Rajanpur and DG Khan districts. Member Punjab Assembly, Sardar Hassamuddin Khan Khosa, Secretary Irrigation, Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Division, Chairman Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, Chief Engineer Highways and Chief Engineer Irrigation attended the meeting.

While addressing the meeting, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that the floods affected the whole country in 2012 as a result of which most of the areas of Punjab were also affected. The Punjab government took timely steps for providing all basic facilities for shifting the flood affectees. He said that Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif specially visited these areas and issued immediate orders to concerned authorities for rehabilitation of affectees.

Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa directed that the committee headed by Chief Secretary should immediately resolve the problems of affected areas. He further said that the committee comprising senior officials of WAPDA should evolve such a strategy under which in case of flood, the water should be stored and utilized to protect the people from the devastations of such natural calamities.

Secretary Irrigation and Commissioner DG Khan informed about the details of devastations caused by floods and also presented proposals for protecting the people.
