Ravians present shield to CJP

hcjp_univsrsitystudentsshieldIslamabad:A thirty five member delegation of students of Government College University, Lahore, media watch society visited the Supreme Court, Islamabad today i.e. 17-01-2013. The delegation was made to visit the building of Supreme Court. They visited the Court Rooms, Court Library, Ceremonial Hall, and Monument in front of Supreme Court Building and attended the proceeding in Court Room No. 1.

The delegation called on Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan. Talking on the issue of accurate reporting his lordship said that it is a duty of media to guide, inform and educate the people. It is, therefore, necessary that there should be objective reporting. No doubt media has multi dimensional role to play in promotion of society’s values. It can also be an instrument in projecting the vision of people.

Encouraging the students his lordship said that there is reason or purpose of existence of everything and the purpose of our existence is much deeper i.e. recognizing ourselves. Inquisitive mind is a gift of God to human being and don’t let this urge die because this habit shines future.

Talking about the role of media his lordship added that media is entrusted with task of discovering facts. His lordship also apprised the students about his recent judgment in Mr. Hamid Mir & others VS Federation of Pakistan, wherein his lordship outlined the terms of reference and formulated two member commission headed by Hon’ble Mr. Justice (R) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Mr. Javed Jabbar, a renowned journalist.

The students of the University inspired from the Judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and said that the efforts and commitments of Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court for the cause of constitutionalism are unprecedented.

The delegation had a group photo with Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and presented a shield. Meanwhile, a Supreme Court souvenir was also presented to delegation.
