Nation should stand united against the agents of terror: PTI

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chairman Imran Khan, Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Secretary General Dr. Arif Alvi, President Javed Hashmi and Information secretary Shafqat Mahmood strongly condemn the outrageous attack on charity workers in Swabi on Tuesday.

Those killed included teachers, a health worker and a health technician. They were working with a local NGO called Ujalla, which runs a school and a health clinic. Schools and NGOs have been threatened in the recent past. Several government schools have been bombed in the last several months. Last month, in a series of attacks, gunmen killed nine health workers taking part in a national polio vaccination drive. Also last month, a Swedish charity worker died after she was shot in the chest in Lahore, where she worked for the US-founded Full Gospel Assemblies, which runs charities including a technical training institute and adult literacy centre. Pakistan has been battling a home-grown militant insurgency for five years now and the situation is worsening by the day.

PTI condemns these groups such as the Taliban using violence as a weapon to achieve their evil ends. Terrorists are maligning the country by resorting to inhumane acts of attacking women and health workers. The conspirators and enemies of the country must be exposed. The nation should stand firm and united against these agents of terror. PTI urges the authorities concerned to immediately bring the culprits to justice and appreciates the valor and commitment of the charity workers, who braved the ghastly act of terrorism. Terrorists have waged a war against the ideology and the very existence of the country and PTI demands that they should be awarded exemplary punishment. Chairman PTI expressed deep sorrow to the bereaved families and offered his condolences.
