Self-accountability is the only way to ensure justice:IGP Haji Habib i

Lahore: The practice of self-accountability is the only way that helps us ensure justice in the society by providing relief to the victims, tightening the screw on the criminals, and in our fight against the terror. If every police officer/official continues the practice of self-accountability then he would not only get rid of personal weaknesses but also can discharge his professional duties in factual manners.

Inspector General of Police (Punjab) Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman stated this while addressing today. CCPO Muhammad Aslam Tareen, DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai, SSP (Operations) Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, SSP (Investigations) Babar Bakhat Qureshi, SSP (Admin) Lahore Tariq Abbas Qureshi, SSP (Discipline and Inspection) Shariq Kamal, PSO to IGP Punjab Muhammad Ali Nakokar SP CIA Omar Virk and other senior police officers were also present on this occasion.

The IGP said that he carries on the practice of self-accountability on daily basis and always took remedial measures the very next day on priority basis in case he felt something lacking. The IGP also advised the officers/officials to leave no stone unturned to ensure justice. He also said that the department is combating the collective fight against the criminals and the terrorists and the aggressive policing would continue against the terrorists and criminals because this policy has given very positive results.

The gangs involved in bank dacoities and robberies at jewelry shops are eliminated while the gangsters involved in heinous crimes like kidnapping for ransom and robbery-cum-murder have met their logical end.

Meanwhile responding to media persons queries, the IGP said that the Security Division has been separated from the operational police to provide security cover to the VIPs. The government has also released Rs 10 Crore for the establishment of security division that is underway at the Bedian Road.

To another question about the arrest of ex-Chairman OGRA Touqeer Sadiq, the IGP said that Touqeer Sadiq is not in Pakistan but we are hopeful that he would be produced before the Supreme Court of Pakistan on December 31st as the police are utilizing all available resources to ensure his arrest from abroad.

To another question, the IGP said if the police department would carry out official correspondence directly with the Chief Minister’s office it would bring revolutionary change in the policing. It will not only improve the working of the department but also save precious time, he concluded.

On this occasion, President Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari lauded the policies of the IGP on behalf of the journalist community and said that the initiatives taken by the IGP would always be remembered.
