CNG-petrol price link move is illegal:APCNGA

Lahore: The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Thursday said that Government has not refused to reduce gas prices and taxes imposed on the CNG sector during the meeting of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) sub-committee held to resolve the CNG pricing issue.
The APCNGA had demanded reduction in gas price and taxes while the representatives of Ministries of Petroleum and Ministry of Finance haven’t refused it, it said.

Rather, the officials representing two ministries had assured to look in the matter sympathetically and do best the settle the issue, said Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council APCNGA.

In a statement issued here today, he said that during the meeting Ogra had silently presented three CNG pricing formulas to the head of the committee which wasn’t part of the agenda. Paracha said that CNG-petrol price link wasn’t discussed in the session as it was not on the agenda, adding that linking CNG price with petrol and three pricing formulas by Ogra was violation of the rights of the consumers and the landmark decision of the Supreme Court.Reposing full confidence in Law Minister Farooq H Naek, Ghiyas Paracha demanded rejection of all recommendation which were against the law, interests of masses and CNG sector. He said that APCNGA has presented its final formula to the government while no meeting took place with Government officials behind closed doors.
