Shahbaz Sharif drives the Metro Bus

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that metro bus project is a wonderful project in the history of transport which will bring a prominent change in the transport culture. Metro bus service is such an historical achievement of Punjab Government of PML(N) due to which comfortable, safe, rapid and economical travelling facilities would be available to the people, he added. He said that Metro buses were plied on trial basis today and these buses will provide travelling facilities to the people regularly within next few days.

He expressed these views while talking to the people on launching the metro bus service on trial basis, here today. Metro bus service was launched on trial basis from Ittefaq Bus Station to Gajumata. The Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Members National and Provincial Assembly, Chairman Lahore Transport Company Kh.Ahmed Hassan, Advisors to CM, Secretary Information, DGLDA, City Traffic Officer and representatives of Turk and Chinese companies were also on board in the bus.

Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that work is continuing on this splendid project of metro bus service round the clock and this historical project will soon be completed as a result of which best traveling facilities would be available to the citizens. He said that a modern e-ticketing system is being introduced for metro bus service for the convenience of passengers. He said metro buses have started reaching Lahore, six buses have arrived while remaining will also soon come to Lahore. Each bus has a capacity for more than 150 passengers and a bus will be available after every three minutes. He said best arrangements have been made at bus stations for the facility of commuters and a modern electronic system has also been installed for their guidance.

Metro bus service was launched on birthday of Quaid-e-Azam on trial basis and three buses were plied from Ittefaq Bus Station to Gajumata, from Gajumata to Kalma Chowk and from Kalma Chowk to Ittefaq Bus Station. In the first bus, besides Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Advisors, Chairman Lahore Transport Company, DG LDA, CTO and representatives of Turk and Chinese bus manufacturing companies were on board. Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif drove the metro bus from Chungi Amer Sidhu to Gajumata. When metro buses arrived at Gajumata, a large number of people welcomed the buses and raised slogans of Shahbaz Sharif, Khadim-e-Aala – Zindabad enthusiastically. People were overjoyed and prayed for Shahbaz Sharif. Expressing their views on the occasion, they said that Shahbaz Sharif has won the hearts of the people by launching such an excellent bus service. They prayed for the long life of the Chief Minister who has provided best travelling facilities to the citizens. On arrival at Gajumata, the Chief Minister came down from the bus and mingled with the people. He inquired from the people about the fixation of fare of metro bus. When the buses left Gajumata, Members Assembly and the people present there also boarded on bus.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also reviewed in detail at Ittefaq Bus Station the arrangements made for the guidance of the passengers regarding exit and entry in the bus stations, platform and e-ticketing system.
