IRSP is being set up in Lahore for rehabilitation of special persons

Lahore: Institute for Rehabilitation of Special Persons is being set up in Lahore for rehabilitation of special persons and for this purpose, already existing center for rehabilitation in Mayo Hospital will be upgraded and given the status of Institute. All modern facilities for the medical treatment and rehabilitation of special persons would be provided there.

This was announced in a meeting presided over by Secretary Health Punjab Arif Nadeem. Pro-Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Dr. Asad Aslam Khan, Secretary Special Education Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Additional Secretary Health (Technical) Dr. Anwar Janjua, Chief Consultant Institute for Rehabilitation of Special Persons Mayo Hospital Dr. Khalid Jamil and other officers attended the meeting.

Prof-Vice Chancellor Dr. Asad Aslam informed Secretary Health that the building is already available for setting up of the Institute and with very low cost, the institute can be established. Secretary Health Arif Nadeem said that Punjab government will provide funds for the Institute. He directed to immediately prepare and submit PC-I for this purpose so that funds could be taken from Finance Department. Dr. Khalid Jameel informed on the occasion that with the setting up of Institute for Rehabilitation of Special Persons, first time indoor medical treatment facilities would be available to the special persons. He informed that with the establishment of Institute, not only the training standard of the doctors would be improved but the quality of artificial organs prepared for special persons in the workshop of Institute for Rehabilitation of the Disabled Mayo Hospital would become better and artificial organs of international standard would be made.
