Judges to decide cases on merit:Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik

Lahore: The lawyers have great regard for the judges deciding cases on merit as per their conscious without fear or favour and the collective thinking of Bar cannot be wrong.

These views were expressed by Judge of High Court Mr. Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik while addressing the concluding ceremony of a capacity building course for female civil judges in Punjab Judicial Academy. The hon’ble judge said that he is still a lawyer and if he is given life ten times by Almighty Allah, he would like to become a lawyer.

He said that litigant public have great expectations from legal profession and you can come up to their expectations with hard work. He said that woman enjoy great respect in our religion but due to some social constraints, the women could not perform their obligations shoulder to shoulder with men in the past and now is the era of competition.

The hon’ble judge said that it is a common thought that the female judges are working slow and they don’t have full command over constitution and law but you have to remove this impression by dint of honest work. He said that female judges have double responsibility and they have to become a role model. The hon’ble judge advised that they should consider the court of Civil Judge as the final court and render comprehensive judgments. The judge commands credibility by good judgments and not by dismissing cases as by dismissing the cases, the judge becomes a rubber stamp and loses respect. He said that the murder trials are pending for years and accused are in jails and if they deserve bail, grant them without any fear or favour.

Representative of Civil Judges of the course, Adeela Altaf and Director General Academy Justice (Retd) Tanveer Ahmed also addressed on the occasion. The learned judge distributed degrees among the civil judges who completed training course. Those who got degrees included Adeela Altaf, Aleena, Farkhanda Arshad, Nabila Jaffery, Syeda Kiran Iqbal, Tahira Sadiq, Komil Tabbasum, Syeda Habib Akhtar, Ishrat Mujahid, Uzma Sattar, Bushra Shehzadi, Zifshan Anjum, Shazia Hassan, Naila Zafar, Fauzia Saira, Sumera Asharf, Qamar un Nisa, Sarwat Bano, Saima Tabasum, Saira Bibi, Fauzia Anjum, Memoona Lashari, Ansa Almas and Saira Batool.
