Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the general elections in the country are going to be held in the near future to strengthen democracy. He said that next elections will end unemployment, poverty, loadshedding, corruption, empower the masses and stabilize the country. He believed the general elections will be transparent under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner and expressed the hopes that the nation will give mandate to such leadership which wants to bring the country out of darkness. He said elections are vital for the existence and development of the country and any delay in the general elections will be disastrous for the country and the nation.

Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif expressed these views while talking to the media during his visit to the under construction Johar Town Sports Complex. In reply to a question, the Chief Minister said the general elections will not be held under the supervision of the President but will be conducted under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner and hopefully Zar Baba Forty Thieves will face crushing defeat because the period of their rule is worst in the country’s history during which every department has been ruined and the national exchequer looted ruthlessly. He said corrupt and incapable rulers did not even spare friendly countries and the Safe City Project with the China has become victim of plunder. He said China has given a loan of one hundred million dollars for this project, out of which seventy million dollars were usurped and finally the Supreme Court took notice of it. In reply to another question about welcoming Dr. Tahir ul Qadri on his return to the country, the Chief Minister said that we have no concern with it. He believed that the establishment has no plan to delay the general elections while it wants transparent elections like political forces and the masses. He said decision on the caretaker set up will be taken with the consultation of the government and the opposition. Terming the hiding of former OGRA Chief Tauqir Sadiq as a blatant violation of the rules, he said that unfortunately Zar Baba Forty Thieves had earlier also played their role in the escape of a personality in a case under government patronage. He said elections become utmost necessary when robbers and thieves are fled under the government supervision.
