Lahore: Central leader of PML-N and Member National Assembly, Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Kh. Muhammad Safdar Medical College has come out of critical era and is making rapid progress.
He expressed these views while addressing a reception held in the honour of the students who got admission in Govt. Khawaja Muhammad Safdar Medical College Sialkot. Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that Quaid PML-N, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif after becoming Chief Minister Punjab had announced setting up of a medical college in the name of a political worker of Sialkot, late Kh. Muhammad Safdar in recognition of his services to the party from 1951 to 1988 upon which he and the citizens of Sialkot are thankful to him. He said that 50 years ago his father laid the foundation stone of Govt. Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital on 29 acres of land and today Allah Almighty has bestowed him the honour to make that hospital a medical college. He also thanked the students and the teachers who borne difficulties and strengthened the foundations of the institution.
He said that the commitment, hardwork and love of the teachers for the construction of the institution is of great importance. Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that this institution will become an independent within next three years and all possible resources will be provided in this regard. He said that since the creation of Pakistan, Pakistani nation is passing through the crisis of its national identity. He said that political leadership is collective reflection of the nations. When we see their characters, in fact we are seeing ourselves.
He said that the nation should use its vote in the coming elections honestly in the national interest setting aside their personal interests. Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that PML-N is interested in such a Pakistan which is stable and there is love, brotherhood, tolerance and prosperity. He said that Sialkot is the land of Allama Muhammad Iqbal who presented the Holy Quran in his poetry and the effects of his poetry will remain forever. He stressed upon every citizen to show his professional commitment. Principal KMSMC Sialkot, Prof. Dr. Zafar Ali Chaudhry said that no effort will be spared for the development of the institution.
He said that the work on new building of the teaching hospital is continuing speedily. He said that the scholarships for the students of the medical college will soon be started and new staff will be recruited in the medical college. He disclosed that 100 doctors will be offered house job in Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital. Registrar University of Health Sciences Punjab Dr. Asad Zaheer also addressed on the occasion. DCO Sialkot Zahid Saleem Gondal, EDO Health Sialkot Dr. Zafar Awan, Prof. Dr. Tanveer Ali Sherwani besides parents of the students were present on the occasion. At the end, Kh. Muhamamd Asif distributed shields among the best teachers and gold medals among students.
