CM orders to expedite work on MBP

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed to accelerate the pace of work on metro bus project so that this splendid public welfare project could be completed as early as possible. He said that there is a race against time and delay in construction work will not be tolerated. Expressing his displeasure over delay in some sections he ordered their completion within timeframe besides expediting the pace of work on bus stations.

He was addressing a meeting regarding the pace of metro bus project and the traffic arrangements at Model Town today. Chairman Lahore Transport Company Kh. Ahmed Hasaan, Members Assembly Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Dr. Saeed Elahi, Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman, Ramzan Bhatti, Chairman Planning & Development, MD Punjab Metro Bus Authority, Secretary Transport, Commissioner Lahore Division, Additional IG Traffic, DCO Lahore, DG LDA, officers concerned and contractors were present. DG LDA apprised the Chief Minister of the pace of progress of the project. Addressing the meeting Shahbaz Sharif said that metro bus project is a precious asset of the nation. He said that people have faced a lot of inconvenience and he is aware of their problems. He directed that all concerned departments should maintain a close coordination during the construction work and remove the impediments immediately so that the project could be completed as early as possible.

He also directed to complete the construction work of the roads beneath the bridges expeditiously while the bus depot should be made functional within four days. He said that special attention should be paid to the standard of construction. The Chief Minister ordered immediate removal of the debris on the route of the project and said that a report should be submitted to him within 48 hours. He also ordered to undertake beautiful horticulture on the routes of metro bus. He said that an effective plan should be evolved to save the people from inconvenience due to closer of traffic during construction of Kalma Chowk underpass. The Chief Minister also directed to name Model Town underpass after prominent intellectual Ashfaq Ahmed.
