Lahore: A spokesman of Food Department Punjab has said that sugarcane crushing season for the year 2012-13 has been started throughout the province. Process of procurement of sugarcane is continuing on the rate fixed by government at Rs.170 per 40-kg at sugar mills and purchase centers, he added.
The spokesman said that District Sugarcane Purchase Monitoring and Examining Committees are continuously monitoring the weights and measures to check the complaints of short weighing during purchase of sugarcane and correct the weighing scales and other equipment. In case of any complaint, the cultivators can lodge their complaints with the concerned District Coordination Officer or Assistant Commissioner for legal action, he added.
The spokesman further said that a provincial complaint cell has also been set up in the Food Department Punjab and the complaints can be registered at Telephone No.042-99212805 from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
