JI condemns Indian FM’s statement on Hafiz Saeed

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has condemned Indian Foreign Minister’s statement that New Delhi would again raise its demand for the deportation of Jamaat al Da’wa chief, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed during Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s visit there.

Describing India’s demand as absurd and unjust, he has stressed that Mr Malik should cancel his India visit in protest, adding that New Delhi was repeating its demand only to keep Islamabad under pressure, and Pakistan should give a firm reply to that.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Syed Munawar Hasan said that India had failed to prove Hafiz Saeed’s involvement in the Mumbai attacks, yet it was pressing Islamabad for his deportation.

On the other hand, he said, Sarbajeet Singh was involved in bomb attacks causing the death of over a dozen Pakistanis. New Delhi had repeatedly demanded his release. The court had pronounced him guilty and awarded him death sentence, yet the Pakistani authorities were keeping him as an honoured guest. India, on the other hand, had promptly hanged Ajmal Kassab. Sometime back, Indian spy Kashmir Singh had been set at liberty with great honor. He wondered why Islamabad had surrendered to Indian rulers in this manner.

The JI Ameer said that India’s enmity and bias towards Pakistan and its citizens was no secret. Only the other day, under a conspiracy, the captain of the blind cricket team Zeeshan Abbasi was served acid. He said the Pakistani officials’ conduct on the occasion however indicated that perhaps we were India’s slaves. Instead of lodging a protest, the Pakistani officials were trying to defend New Delhi saying this was only by mistake.

He said had such an incident taken place with any Indian player on Pakistan’s soil, New Delhi would have played hell, and made so much propaganda against this country in the way it had done to secure a ban on holding World Cup in the country following an attack on Sri Lanka’s team. .

Syed Munawar Hasan said that India was trying its utmost to isolate and destroy this country. Life had been made difficult for the Indian Muslims while state terrorism was continuing in the Indian held Kashmir by the occupation forces for the last more than two decades. At the same time, India was denying this country its lawful river water share. Despite all this, the rulers in Islamabad were befriending India. Trade with India had been increased, and India had been provided a land route for its goods up to Afghanistan and Central Asian states. Things had worsened to the extent that after US, India was now dictating this country but the cowardly rulers were tolerating all this.
