Police should mend its ways to help the oppressed:CM Punjab

Lahore:Chief Minister Punjab has said that strict action will be taken against those police officials creating hindrances in the provision of justice as provision of justice is his mission and he is accountable to Almighty Allah as well as people.He said that protection of people is responsibility of police and it will have to discharge its responsibility efficiently. Shahbaz Sharif warned that no hindrance will be tolerated in provision of justice to the oppressed and the police officials creating hurdles in the investigation of cases will not be spared at all.

He expressed these views while listening to the complainants of various districts at Model Town today. MNA Pervez Malik, Inspector General Police Punjab, Advocate General Punjab, Prosecutor General Punjab, DG Forensic Science Agency, DIG Investigation and concerned officials of police were present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister issued on the spot orders for redressal of complaints of the complaints upon which the complainants prayed for health and long life of Chief Minister. Addressing on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that those societies cannot survive which do not provide justice. He said that police officials should consider themselves as servant to the people and should spare no effort in helping the masses. He said that if the police fulfill the demands of justice by taking immediate action on the complaints of the people and provide justice, the complainants will not have to come to him for redressal of their problems. He said that provision of justice is his responsibility and he will fulfill it at all cost. Talking to the complainants Shahbaz Sharif said that he is Khadim of all of them and will make all out efforts for provision of justice to them.

He said that not only criminal cases should be registered against those police officials who destroy evidences during the investigation of cases but they should also be suspended. Addressing the police officials, he said that if he has to provide justice then what they are doing. The Chief Minister said that law and justice is equal for poor and the rich, therefore, the criteria of law should be the same for the poor which is for the rich. He said that police should discharge its responsibilities in a professional manner and investigation should be carried out on scientific lines so that the accused could be brought to justice. He said that no pressure should be accepted in the investigation of cases.

The Chief Minister ordered arrest of the accused involved in abduction of two daughters of Muhammad Amin resident of Factory Area Lahore within seven days. He also directed to handover the inquiry to DIG Zulfiqar Cheema in a murder case of the nephew of Iqbal resident of Shahdra Town after receiving ransom. The Chief Minister also ordered arrest of the accused who looted Ghulam Fareed and jeweler Shahid Mehmud both residents of Shahdra Town in Chakwal and Gujrat respectively within seven days and directed IG Punjab to issue orders to jewelers to make security arrangement themselves. The Chief Minister while taking notice of carrying out investigation of murder case in Sheikhupura in wrong direction, directed IG Punjab to take disciplinary action against those police employees who were involved in tempering of record. Ejaz from Attock told the Chief Minister that the accused involved in the murder of his son have been arrested by the police for which he is thankful to him. The Chief Minister while giving commendatory certificate to DPO Attock on apprehending the accused said that such honest and dutiful police officers are our pride and police force also needed such bold and dutiful officers.

Shahbaz Sharif also ordered arrest of the accused involved in the assault of an eight years’ old daughter of Abid resident of Ichhra within seven days. The Chief Minister while issuing order for taking action against chemical examiner and concerned police officials for destroying evidences and carrying out investigation in wrong direction in the case of murder of a child after molestation in Jalalpur Bhattian district Hafizabad, said that such police officials do not deserve posting in government offices at all. He said that action should be taken against the accused involved in this case and test of all evidences should be conducted from forensic lab. Shahbaz Sharif warned that whosoever has tried to destroy the evidences in this case will never be spared. The Chief Minister strongly reprimanded the police officials who did not fulfill the demand of justice and demonstrated lethargic attitude in the redressal of complaints of some complainants and directed that police should fulfill demands of justice with honesty and devotedly.
