YDA protest against decision of acting VC of KEMU to shift girls in boys hostel

Lahore: Scores of students and doctors of King Edward Medical University protested and blocked Hall Road Chowk against the illegal decision of acting VC of KEMU to shift girls in boys hostel and appealed to the Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to appoint a regular vice chancellor at the institution in the light of order of Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan. They said the acting VC had destroyed the institution and was bringing a bad name to the elected government. The protest was led by young doctors, Islami Jamiat Tulba, student leaders and united medical forum. Students said that shifting of girls in boy’s hostel will creat social as well as security issues. Traffic was jammed because of protest. The student’s leader Sohail, Talha, Arshad, Raza, Yasir, Amjad and others said if the admin try to use force against the students we will retaliate with full force.

Later the administration of KEMU sent 40 armed outsiders in hostel canteen on ambulances to harass the students on which students rang the local police to get them arrested however before the police could arrive the outsiders ran away in the ambulances. Young doctors have appealed to Chief Minister Punjab to get personally involved in the matter and resolved it.
