Lahore: Punjab government has directed to improve the condition of public transport and ensure its fitness throughout the province. Public transport plying without fitness certificate would be impounded and action be taken against the violators.
On the direction of Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Transport Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Secretary Transport Muhammad Yousaf has directed all the Secretaries RTAs to regularly monitor the fitness of public transport in all the districts and action be taken against the violators. Secretary Transport while taking notice of the complaints regarding plying of unfit vehicles in Lahore and Sheikhupura, has called for a clarification from concerned Secretary RTA and directed the officers to take immediate action against the transporters. He said that Transport Department has launched a campaign against unfit public transport. He said that a control room has been set up in the office of Punjab Provincial Transport Authority Lahore in this regard which takes action on the reports received from all the districts on daily basis.
