Government is launching four women universities: Mujtaba Shuja

Lahore: Minister Education Punjab Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that in order to increase the ratio of female in higher education, the government is launching four women universities at Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan and Sialkot. He said that amount for endowment fund has been increased upto Rs. 10 billion. He said that Rs. One billion stipends is being distributed among the girl students belonging to remote and deprived areas to encourage female education.

While talking to various delegation at his office, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that complete elimination of terrorism and extremism is necessary for the progress & prosperity of the country. He said that unemployment and poverty could be minimized through eradication of terrorism, whereas, extremism can be rooted out through promotion of quality education. He said that our struggle against extremism could never be fruitful without enhancing education rate and consulting the intellectuals & writers.

Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that Punjab Government has provided a sum of Rs. 10 billion to promote school education in the marginalized strata and 1.5 million deserving students in the 36 districts would be benefited. He told that a sum of Rs. 46 billion will be spent on the school education sector to elevate it according to international standards. He said that more than 30 lakh children had been given admission in the schools as a result of primary enrolment campaign launched by the Punjab Government. He said that government is also awarding scholarships to thousands of talented students for studying in the country and abroad.

Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that Punjab Government had distributed 60 thousand education vouchers among the deserving students to enable them complete their education in their favorite school. He said that 8 Daanish schools are being opened up during current fiscal year in less developed areas of the province. He told that 25 lakh boy and girl students are getting computer education every year in the province through IT promotion programme of Chief Minister Punjab.
